As illustrated on the world map, the company’s extensive international patent portfolio includes two significant patent families, 34 issued patents, and many pending patent applications across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Europe, United Kingdom, Switzerland, China, Russia, India, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and other jurisdictions.
The first patent family covers very-low-nicotine cigarettes comprising blends of very-low-nicotine tobacco and hemp, and the second covers vaporizer pods (for electronic vaporizers) also comprising blends of tobacco and hemp. Patents are issued or filed in countries where more than half of the world’s one billion plus cigarette smokers and vapers reside.
The company’s reduced-nicotine cigarettes in development are for assisting in smoking less and/or facilitating smokers to switch to less harmful, smoke-free products such as Vuse® e-cigarettes or IQOS®, and upon commercialization, the company’s vaporizer pods.
